Myaraa by Namrata Lodha x Payal Singhal is an exploration of the feminine chic
t2ONLINE caught up with Payal and Namrata to know more about their creative processes.
Payal, this was completely up your alley, right?
Yes, guilty as charged! We love collaborations and we have never done hats and it was the perfect fit for our resortwear line.
How did you adapt to the Myaraa aesthetics?
The ‘Blossom’ collection of resort hats merges Myaraa’s innovative headwear design with our aesthetic of timeless Indian artistry. This partnership brings the best of Myaraa's contemporary hat design with our signature blend of heritage and modernity, resulting in a collection that's both stylish and sustainable. The ‘Blossom’ collection is more than just headwear – it is a statement that celebrates nature's beauty, Indian craftsmanship, and contemporary design.
What is it about collaborating that you love?
I actually love product design and collaborations give me the chance to conceptualise things beyond clothing and I also get to work with other creative minds and businesses to explore and learn so much about different industries and products.
Are you a hat person?
I don’t wear hats on a daily basis but I can’t do without one on a sunny holiday! It’s a fashion and functional necessity for me.
What else is in store?
We are excited to celebrate the Payal Singhal brand turning 25 years old this year and have lots of exciting things coming up for that.
Namrata Lodha, founder, Myaraa
The collection looks super pretty! Namrata, what about Payal’s aesthetics click with Myaraa?
Thank you so much for the kind words. I noticed that Payal and Myaraa share a common aesthetic that we both value fine craftsmanship and the beauty of handcrafted work. Her approach of fusing classic components with a contemporary twist impressed me a lot and it's also in line with Myaraa's goal of making hats that are statement pieces rather than merely accessories. Her use of vivid colours, intricate stitching, and detailed embroidery enhances our handcrafted hats. We've collaborated to develop a collection that embodies both of our brands and is both classic and modern.
What were your inputs for Payal?
My inputs for Payal focused on making sure the Blossom collection stayed true to Myaraa's core values while embracing her signature style. I wanted to keep the essence of what makes Myaraa special—our handmade details, the use of sustainable materials, and the attention to craftsmanship.
When we brainstormed, we talked about how the hats could capture the elegance and rich cultural influences Payal is known for, while still being practical and easy to wear. We wanted our hats that can be worn on a laid-back day out or on any festive occasion. The foldable hat is a great example of how we merged both our visions—it’s functional and chic, letting you take a little bit of luxury with you, no matter where you go.
What are your top five beach hats?
Picking just five beach hats is no easy task because each one in our collection has its own special charm, but here are my top choices. The Poppy Boater Hat is incredibly versatile. It can take you from a relaxed day at the beach to an elegant cocktail party with ease. The Blooming Zippi Visor Hat is a favourite for its practicality; it’s foldable and fits perfectly in a purse or tote, making it easy to carry wherever you go.
For a bold and sophisticated look, the Raven Floppy Hat is perfect. Its wide brim offers great protection from sun, and the black colour adds a touch of elegance. The Carnation Wide Brim Boater Hat is made from natural wheat straw, featuring a wider brim for extra coverage, and it’s adorned with beautifully embroidered flowers on the crown, giving it a fresh, summery vibe. Last but not least, our Raffia Hat is a lightweight, fringed hat with a carefree, Bohemian vibe. Its long fringe pattern adds style, and it's comfortable to wear all day.
Each of these hats embodies Myaraa’s commitment to quality, sustainability and style, ensuring you look great while staying protected from the sun.
